Overcoming the Calculations Challenge: New Resource
Pharmacy professionals must often work out a range of calculations to ensure accurate doses for patients. For some – both pharmacists and technicians – overcoming the calculations challenge is an unpleasant experience. This need not be. With practice, it is possible to master calculations and view them as a routine part of the daily work experience. Pharmacist and pharmacy technician training courses therefore reflect the need to be competent in calculations. However, the skill can be lost over time and needs regular practice.
With this realisation in mind, we have written a simple book that presents common calculation challenges that mirror those that we may encounter in practice. This is useful both in routine work and for those preparing for a range of pharmacy examinations. For subscribers only, we are providing a preview of the questions in the full booklet, below.
In the first twelve questions, we look at some sample questions provided by the General Pharmaceutical Council. The rest of the questions reflect a range of other question types you may come across in your practice, examinations or other question banks. Our hope is that this will help readers in overcoming the calculations challenge, which is a feat to be proud of as a pharmacy professional.
Please note that the questions and answers are only a sample and do not cover the breadth of pharmacy practice. We doubt that this would be possible in a single published volume. We therefore encourage the additional use of other sources and revision tools; if you are preparing for an examination.
If you would like the full booklet with all twenty questions and answers, you may find in on Amazon in Kindle format or as a Paperback. The Kindle version is available here for immediate download onto your device. Alternatively, you can find details on our Merch page here.
